We will be announcing our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy soon. Our DEI strategy is entitled “Grand Inclusion.”
Part of this strategy will be to educate and advocate for policy changes across 160 governmental units or 6 counties in West Michigan. This is the continuation of the Clear Vision for an Inclusive Future initiative that we started before the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic caused a disruption in the lives of many, and we are not immune to that disruption. We will resume our effort to help municipalities adopt LGBTQ+ inclusive protections in housing, employment, and public accommodations.
Our advocacy in Holland, along with many activists and organizations, led to Holland adopting a nondiscrimination policy to protect the LGBTQ+ community. We want to see these changes continue on the policy level for all people that call West Michigan home.
